I have literally not seen ONE SINGLE COMMENT along the lines of “real Sherlock wouldn’t do this” that is actually correct. Pretending you are comparing an adaptation to the canon when you in fact have no idea what canon Holmes is like and all of your assumptions are actually based on BBC or RDJ Sherlock makes you look like an ass. Most of these comments are literally THE DIRECT OPPOSITE of canon. Ex. SH never hates being right (he does), SH would never use google (he would and essentially did), Watson would never gasp dramatically at a scene of violence or tragedy (oh my god he never stopped).
It’s not that hard, just admit you don’t give a shit about canon accuracy, BBC is just your favorite Sherlock and you don’t want another one. There’s nothing really wrong with saying that?? It’s kind of petty but whatever, personal preference, that’s cool! But quit pretending your knee-jerk and immature reactions are based on a need to defend the canon and your ~true Sherlockian~ status.
P.s. ACD DIDN’T EVEN LIKE SHERLOCK HOLMES if he’s rolling in his grave it’s only because he’s become famous for his least favorite stories and we are spending all of this time making screeching noises about SH I don’t think “inaccurate adaptations” would be his biggest beef here
